Finally a big of a sleep in with nothing that I have to rush off for, instead I decided I'd take the morning to relax for a little, then I headed off to town to get some more for to eat for the day, also managed to suss out breakfast tomorrow before leaving the hotel which is a plus. Checked my emails this morning to find out that the slip that has been causing the trucks and buses to come via the tunnel has not been able to be cleared afterall, which means there are major issues with the race transport for people. Thankfully for me, I am not heading back to Chamonix until I cross that finish line.

Before I get too far into this page, I'll just post up a few tracking links below so you can track me on my race tomorrow should you feel the need:

UTMB Official tracking (Option 2) I'm not actually sure why they have 2 links, but they are slightly different.

Personal Tracker (updates every 30 minutes or so)

I just can't help appreciate how lovely this little township is, is it cheap, well... actually it's not the cheapest of places but it's defiantly cheaper that Chamonix and definately worth visiting for the views of the mountain ranges. I strolled down to the local supermarket and picked up some more supplies and sat down outside while admiring the mountain ranges. Went back to the hotel to relax and chill out for a bit before I decided to get my gear ready for the race check-in. While doing so I got a call from the parents as they had just got a decent internet connection, had a chat with them, mum said she will be worrying about me tomorrow, I'm not sure why, she will get a call if anything happens, and she can also track me live anyway. I guess that's just what mother's do.

Finished getting ready and headed down to the race pack pickup with all my gear, turns out they didn't even do a gear check, they just stuck a label to it and I picked up race pack... Kind of good really, because it's a little annoying having to repack my kit every time. Back to the hotel room to relax some more, unfortunately I feel there must be something wrong with the elevator which my room is next door to, I head it opening and closing almost every 30 seconds and it dinging, sometimes it will stop other times it's open close, ding, open close. This has been going on for a bit and getting a little annoying... so... I think I'm going to head out for dinner now.

I was going to have the same dinner as last night, but like my work colleague Alison would say at our Wednesday lunches "I think I may try something different", I could have played it safe like Martijn and sticking with the same old same old, but I know what I'm having should be fine as well. I walked back to the hotel with dinner in hand and spotted someone outside having dinner as well, I sat down next to him and we got chatting, his name is Tarik and from the Netherlands, he was walking the Trail Mont Blanc trail and was having a rest day because of a problem with his knee on the downhills. He's said he would be fine going up hill, but didn't want to head up with a sore knee if he finds its gets too painful and he can't get down, I totally get it and wise thinking... Hopefully the night of rest will help with it.
